UK accountancy software provider FreeAgent has partnered with Fathom, a specialist reporting, analysis and forecasting platform, to deliver enhanced financial visibility for accountants and UK small and medium-sized enterprises.

The integration brings together core accounting functionality with advanced reporting and performance analysis, reinforcing the accountancy sector’s shift towards data-led advisory services.

The partnership enables financial data from FreeAgent to automatically sync into Fathom, providing real-time access to profit and loss reporting, cashflow forecasting, KPI dashboards and interactive management reports.

This integration removes the need for manual data manipulation while allowing financial performance to be reviewed and interpreted within a single, connected environment.

The move responds to growing demand from SME clients for more frequent, more meaningful financial insight. As businesses operate in uncertain economic conditions, accountants are increasingly expected to provide forward-looking analysis rather than retrospective compliance reporting alone.

The combined FreeAgent and Fathom offering is designed to support this transition, enabling practices to scale advisory services efficiently across diverse client portfolios.

The integration also supports accountancy firms managing multiple clients with differing reporting requirements. Customisable dashboards and automated reporting allow firms to tailor insights without increasing administrative burden, improving consistency while freeing up capacity for higher-value client engagement.

Commenting on the partnership, FreeAgent CSO Stewart Hurd said:“We know that in this time of ongoing global economic uncertainty many small and medium sized businesses are under increasing pressure to be more agile and better informed about their business finances."

Hurd added: "As a result, these businesses are requiring more specific, targeted expertise from their accountants – which means that accountancy practices are evolving from compliance factories to becoming trusted business advisors.”
