The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland has expanded access to its Accounting and Business Professional qualification into England through a partnership with BPP, the UK's largest professional education provider, making the programme eligible for Level 4 apprenticeship funding for the first time, as reported by Scottish Financial News. The expansion broadens the route into chartered accountancy for individuals and provides employers with a cost-effective mechanism to build finance team capability with minimal operational disruption.

The Accounting and Business Professional qualification combines the ICAS Certificate in Accounting and Business with relevant practical experience, blending foundational accounting knowledge with broader business skills and real-world application. The programme typically takes 12 to 15 months to complete and delivers a recognised standalone qualification, with the option to progress to Chartered Accountant status through exemptions from the first level of the CA syllabus.

BPP will deliver the qualification in England through a mix of in-person and online learning, building on a training partnership with ICAS spanning more than two decades.
