Fidelity Investments Canada ULC has made a strategic $1.4-million investment in the University of Guelph’s Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics to prepare the next generation of finance leaders. The funding will establish a named chair in finance and expand experiential learning opportunities.

Dr. Nikola Gradojevic, an expert in international finance, asset pricing, AI, and risk management, has been appointed the inaugural Fidelity Chair in Finance. Over the next five years, he will lead research with real-world impact, enhance student learning, and strengthen global industry collaborations.

Dean Dr. Sara Mann said the initiative positions the Lang School to align finance education with evolving global priorities and emerging technologies. “With Fidelity’s support, we can build a program that reflects the latest trends in data, AI, and global markets, while helping students apply those insights responsibly,” she added.

In addition to the chair, Fidelity’s gift funds two programmes enabling faculty advisors to mentor student-led groups, including the Guelph Student Investment Council and the Guelph Sales Student Association. Students will gain hands-on experience managing investment portfolios through Bloomberg technology and participating in national competitions.

By bridging classroom learning with practical experience, the initiative equips students with the skills and insights needed to thrive in a rapidly changing financial landscape.
