A new corporate and commercial law firm, Daly McCormick, has launched in Northern Ireland with a presence in Mid Ulster and Belfast, founded by Claire Daly and Caoimhe McCormick, both of whom previously worked in-house within a leading accountancy environment.
Business Eye reported that the firm will specialise exclusively in corporate and commercial advisory work, including transactions, restructures, governance, commercial agreements, employee incentives, and succession planning, with an explicit focus on integrating legal advice earlier in the client decision-making process.
The founders said their accountancy backgrounds inform a more practical and joined-up approach to client advisory work, positioning the firm as a close collaborator alongside accountants, tax advisers, and other solicitors.
Daly said: "Too often, lawyers are brought in at the end of a process, when key decisions have already been made. Our approach is to be involved earlier, when those decisions are still being shaped."
McCormick said their in-house accountancy experience means being much closer to how businesses and advisers operate day to day, adding that legal advice needs to fit within that environment, alongside tax and commercial considerations.
The firm also intends to work closely with accountants, tax advisers, and other solicitors as part of the wider advisory ecosystem. McCormick said the best outcomes for clients come when advisers collaborate, and that Daly McCormick sees itself as supporting that approach.
Daly said clients want clarity quickly, reflecting evolving expectations around responsiveness and accessibility within professional services.
The firm's Mid Ulster base reflects sustained business growth outside Belfast, whilst maintaining a regional presence across Northern Ireland.
