BDO Ireland has reinforced its accountancy and assurance offering with the appointment of Marc Aboud as Sustainability Reporting and Assurance Partner within its Sustainability practice. The move comes as Irish and multinational organisations face growing regulatory, disclosure, and independent assurance requirements across ESG and sustainability reporting.
Aboud brings more than 15 years’ experience across assurance, risk advisory, and consulting, with a particular focus on organisations operating in complex and highly regulated environments.
His appointment enhances BDO Ireland’s ability to support finance teams and boards as sustainability reporting becomes increasingly integrated with core accountancy, audit, and risk functions.
Joining from a Big Four firm, Aboud has worked across risk advisory, assurance, and consulting roles in Ireland and completed a secondment in the United States. His background positions him to advise organisations navigating evolving international sustainability standards alongside domestic regulatory expectations.
His experience covers ESG strategy and scenario analysis, ESG materiality assessments, sustainability reporting and disclosure requirements, ESG assurance, regulatory gap analysis, and sustainable finance, including green bonds.
His client portfolio spans financial services, consumer markets, energy and resources, and technology and media, working with large PLCs, private companies, and private equity-backed businesses.
The appointment reflects accelerating demand for credible, assured ESG information that aligns non-financial disclosures with financial reporting.
Regulatory developments are placing increased accountability on finance leaders, auditors, and risk professionals to ensure data quality, governance, and assurance standards meet stakeholder and regulatory expectations.
Aboud is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and holds a Certificate in Sustainability and Climate Change from the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
