BDO Canada has appointed Elaine Hultzer as a partner in its assurance practice in Toronto, reinforcing the firm’s leadership in audit quality, financial reporting and risk advisory across multiple industries.
Hultzer brings over 25 years of experience in financial reporting and assurance, having led audit quality inspections in Canada, Australia and Taiwan. She joins BDO from Deloitte, where she was a partner and global leader of IFRS 17 auditability, providing expertise in navigating complex audits and implementing assurance standards at scale.
Her professional credentials include a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and membership as a Chartered Professional Accountant in Ontario, as well as Chartered Accountant status in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. These qualifications underscore her international audit and assurance experience.
Dave Rasmussen, partner, assurance at BDO Canada, said: “Elaine’s deep expertise in accounting and assurance, and her track record of driving audit quality globally, make her an exceptional addition to our Assurance practice. Her leadership in leading both accounting and assurance implementation projects, and her passion for mentoring teams, will strengthen our ability to serve clients across many industries.”
Hultzer’s appointment follows recent partner additions Ratan Verma in Toronto and Herbert Wong in Vancouver, reflecting BDO Canada’s strategy to expand senior capability within its assurance services.
The moves support the firm’s capacity to deliver consistent, high-quality audits and advisory services to mid-market clients in an increasingly complex regulatory and reporting environment.
