Fiona has worked across various industries, such as Bass Ireland, Health Service,  Printing industry as a management accountant in Ireland. In 1999 she became a lecturer in Accounting and brings all this extensive academic management experience in both industry and academia to her current the role as Head of School of Accounting, Economics & Finance at Technological University Dublin.  In 2018 Fiona achieved a Doctorate in Education from Dublin City University. Her area of research is Gender Equality.
